Cookies Using Cake Mix - 5 Ingredients!
You can use a box of cake mix to make cookies. It's a shortcut method for many cookie recipes. You skip the mixing of dry ingredients together or using a hand mixer.
This recipe is cookies, in cookies! My favorite cake mix is Duncan Hines. I'd like to think this is my original recipe but with all the Duncan Hines Cook Books out there, I bet they've published something similar.
The base of this cookie recipe is the same as the one for my Dark Chocolate Raisinet Cookies. I've changed the flavor a bit and added chopped Oreos along with White Chips, or what some people call White Chocolate Chips. Now Whallah! We have Cookies n' Cream Cookies.
Ingredients:
- Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix
- Regular Oreo Cookies
- Two Eggs
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter
- White Chips
How-To-Make Cookies and Cream Cookies
1. Melt butter in Large Bowl. Add Cake mix and the beaten egg.
2. Mix with a spoon. The dough will be thick.
3. Next Step - Chop regular Oreo cookies into pieces.
4. Pour chopped cookies and white chips into the bowl of cookie dough. Stir with a wooden spoon.
5. Scoop Dough balls onto parchment paper lined baking sheet. Or use a baking mat.
Place some Oreo crumbles on top of the cookies for extra pizazz. Add even more for a crunchy cookie.
6. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Ovens Vary in temperature. Let the baked cookies rest on the cookie sheet for 10 minutes and then move to a rack.
The cookies are chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Sometimes I add a little bit of mini-chocolate chips, just for the EXTRA chocolate. Who could ever have enough chocolate? 🙂
Choose Your Cookie Scoop
If you are going to be a cookie expert, you must invest in a cookie scoop. I am left-handed so I use the whole hand squeeze style as pictured below. The trigger style works great for Right Handed people.
For cookies with chunks or chips in them, I use at least the 1 ½ sized Tablespoon scoop. If you don't have a cookie scoop, just use a Tablespoon and roll the cookie dough balls with your hands.
Lanie's 🔅Recipe Reflections
- For Uniform Sized Cookies, and best results, use a cookie scoop.
- If you want cookies with a soft texture, use canola or vegetable oil in place of the unsalted butter. You can use salted butter in this recipe too.
- To keep a chewy texture on the inside, store immediately once cooled in a large ziplock bag or airtight container.
