Looking for a quick lunch idea or an satisfying party appetizer? These Easy Chicken Salad Sliders are one of my favorite things to throw together when I need something fast but filling. Using simple ingredients and packed with white meat, they come together in no time and serve a crowd.
Ingredients
For these sliders, I keep it classic: shredded and chopped rotisserie chicken breasts, mayonnaise, chopped crunchy celery stalks, and black pepper.

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Salad
Remove from the chicken the white meat only for chicken salad, and also remove the skin. Shred the chicken and then chop it. Add mayo and chopped celery. Whallah!
Step 2: Assemble the Chicken Salad Sliders

Pile it onto King's Sweet Hawaiian slider rolls or King’s Sweet Dinner Rolls. I serve these with a side of banana peppers (hot or mild) and sliced grape tomatoes.
Then & Now
When I was younger, chicken salad tucked into a soft, sweet roll was one of my favorite things. Back then, it was always King's Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, the dinner style ones. Then a few years ago they came out with the actual rolls called "Slider Buns." Either one works great with this recipe.
I’ve always liked mine simple: no fruit, no nuts. Just the creamy mix of chopped white meat, mayonnaise, and crunchy celery.
I'm providing the recipe for the chicken salad in this recipe card, but If you need a detailed recipe for the chicken salad itself, check out my Rotisserie Chicken Salad Recipe where I go into more detail. Or if you’re cooking from scratch, I’ve also got a Classic Old Fashioned Chicken Salad recipe using raw chicken breast that walks you through it.
Special Tips or Variations
Want to change it up Add a bit of finely chopped red onion or green onion for extra bite. I like to leave the chicken salad basic, and dazzle it with accessories on the board or serving platter.
Other Idea for the Optional Toppings
While I usually keep my chicken salad basic, a dash of hot sauce or chopped bread & butter pickles can be fun, too. Sliced cucumber or red bell pepper is delicious along the side as well.
Some other ideas for the board or tray:
- Kettle Style Potato Chips
- Different Types of Peppers
- Sliced Cucumber
- Tri-Colored Bell Peppers Sliced
- Smoked nuts
- Pickled Red Onion
- Bread & Butter Pickle Chips
- Seedless Grapes

Common Questions
Can I use cooked chicken breast instead of rotisserie chicken? Yes, cooked white meat from chicken breasts works well. Just shred or chop it before mixing.
How far ahead can I make the chicken salad? You can make it a day ahead. In fact, it's better after chilling for at least an hour. Store it in a covered container in the fridge. Mix again before serving.
Are there other buns that work if I can’t find Hawaiian original Hawaiian sweet rolls? Absolutely. Whole grain rolls or any slider buns will do. Just choose something soft.
